Section 01
Sales Policy & All Sales Final
All purchases made through EdgeWorks Knife Studio are considered final at the time of payment. By completing a purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in their entirety.
EdgeWorks Knife Studio sells professional-grade resin bonded diamond sharpening stones and related products. Due to the consumable and use-dependent nature of these products, all sales are final once payment has been processed — this applies equally to pre-order and in-stock purchases, without exception.
We stand behind every stone we sell. If your product arrives with a confirmed manufacturer defect, we will make it right. See Section 03 for full warranty details.
Cancellation Window: Pre-order cancellations may be requested within 24 hours of purchase by contacting us at info@edgeworksknifestudio.com with your order number. After 24 hours, your order enters our fulfillment queue and is no longer eligible for cancellation or refund under any circumstances.
Tariffs & Import Fees: EdgeWorks Knife Studio sources its products from overseas manufacturing. In the event that a cancellation is approved within the 24-hour window, any import tariffs, duties, or related fees already incurred on your behalf will be deducted from any eligible refund amount. By placing a pre-order, you acknowledge and accept this condition.
Section 02
Returns & Refund Policy
We understand that purchasing sharpening stones online requires trust, and we take that seriously. However, the nature of our products makes a traditional return policy both impractical and unfair to other customers.
Sharpening stones are consumable, use-dependent products. A stone that has been used — even once — cannot be returned, inspected, sanitized, and resold as new. EdgeWorks Knife Studio maintains a strict no-return policy on all opened and used products.
- Unopened, unused items in original unaltered condition may be considered for return within 7 days of confirmed delivery. You must contact us before returning any item — unauthorized returns will not be accepted or processed.
- Opened or used items are not eligible for return or refund under any circumstances, regardless of reason or extent of use.
- Items damaged through misuse, improper storage, dropping, or normal wear are not eligible for return, refund, or warranty coverage.
- Performance dissatisfaction based on personal preference or technique differences does not constitute grounds for a return or refund.
- Change of mind after opening a product is not an accepted basis for return.
- Confirmed manufacturer defects are handled separately under Section 03 and result in a replacement product only — not a refund.
Think of it like a set of sandpaper or a sharpening rod — once it's been used, it's been used. We price our stones fairly so you can purchase with confidence. If you have a concern before opening your order, contact us first — we're real people and we'll talk it through.
Section 03
Warranty & Manufacturer Defects
EdgeWorks Knife Studio personally inspects every stone before it ships. In the rare event that a product arrives with a confirmed manufacturer defect, we will replace it — straightforwardly, without unnecessary runaround.
What qualifies as a manufacturer defect:
- Visible structural cracks or fractures present upon arrival that are not attributable to shipping damage or customer mishandling
- Significant delamination of the abrasive surface not caused by use, improper storage, or chemical exposure
- Severe grit inconsistency across the stone face that renders the product genuinely unusable for its intended purpose
- Receipt of a product that does not match the grit specification shown on your order confirmation
What does NOT qualify as a manufacturer defect:
- Normal wear resulting from regular use — sharpening stones are consumable products by nature
- Minor cosmetic surface variations in color, texture, or finish — these are inherent characteristics of resin bonded diamond stones and are not defects
- Damage from dropping, freezing, harsh chemical exposure, or improper storage
- Performance dissatisfaction based on personal sharpening preference, technique, or comparison to other products
- Glazing or loading of the stone surface caused by improper use, lack of lubrication, or failure to properly lap or flatten the stone
- Shipping damage not reported within 48 hours of confirmed delivery
Warranty claims must be submitted within 30 days of confirmed delivery and must include photographic evidence of the defect along with your order number. Submit all claims to info@edgeworksknifestudio.com. Approved claims result in a replacement product only — not a refund. Replacement is subject to product availability.
EdgeWorks Knife Studio reserves the right to make the final determination on all warranty claims. We aim to be fair and reasonable in every case, but we reserve the right to decline claims that do not meet the criteria outlined above.
Section 04
Pre-Order Terms & Shipping
EdgeWorks Knife Studio currently operates on a pre-order fulfillment model. Products are sourced from overseas manufacturing, shipped to EdgeWorks for personal inspection, and then dispatched to customers. By placing a pre-order, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Payment is collected at the time of order. Pre-orders are not a reserve-now, pay-later arrangement — your payment confirms your place in the fulfillment queue.
- Estimated fulfillment time is 20–30 days from the order date under normal operating conditions. This estimate reflects international manufacturing lead times and inbound shipping. It is an estimate only and is not a guarantee.
- Delays outside our control — including but not limited to customs processing, international carrier disruptions, manufacturing delays, import tariff changes, natural disasters, acts of God, pandemics, labor actions, or geopolitical events — do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.
- Import tariffs and duties are factored into our pricing to the extent possible. In the event of significant tariff changes affecting inbound shipments after your order is placed, EdgeWorks Knife Studio reserves the right to contact you regarding any material cost impact prior to fulfillment.
- Shipping costs are collected at checkout and are non-refundable once an order has been dispatched.
- Pre-order pricing is locked at the time of purchase and is not affected by any subsequent price changes.
We are committed to proactive communication. If your order is subject to a delay beyond the estimated window, we will notify you by email with an updated timeline. We respect your time and your money.
Section 05
Limitation of Liability & Safety
⚠️ Sharpening stones are tools intended for use by informed, competent adults. A properly sharpened blade is extremely sharp. Please exercise appropriate caution at all times when handling sharpened cutting tools.
EdgeWorks Knife Studio sells sharpening stones — tools designed to create, maintain, and refine sharp edges on knives and other cutting implements. The intended result of using our products correctly is an extremely sharp blade. The responsibility for safe and appropriate handling of any blade sharpened using our products rests entirely and solely with the end user.
By purchasing from EdgeWorks Knife Studio, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- EdgeWorks Knife Studio, its owner, employees, representatives, and affiliates are not liable for any personal injury, bodily harm, property damage, or financial loss of any kind arising from the use, misuse, or improper handling of our products or any blade sharpened using those products.
- You are purchasing a sharpening tool with full knowledge that the intended result is a sharp cutting edge, and that sharp edges require proper handling, storage, and use by a responsible adult.
- EdgeWorks Knife Studio is not responsible for damage to knives, cutting boards, countertops, furniture, or any other personal or commercial property resulting from the use of blades sharpened with our products.
- EdgeWorks Knife Studio is not responsible for injury to yourself, members of your household, or any third party resulting from the use or misuse of any blade sharpened using our products.
- You assume full and sole responsibility for your personal safety and the safety of all others in connection with your use of sharpened cutting tools.
- EdgeWorks Knife Studio is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind arising from the use of or inability to use this website or our products, including but not limited to reliance on any information obtained from this site.
- In any circumstance where EdgeWorks Knife Studio is found to bear liability, that liability shall not exceed the original purchase price of the specific product in question.
These limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted under the laws of the State of Illinois and applicable federal law. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude liability that cannot be lawfully excluded under Illinois or federal law.
If you are unfamiliar with the safe handling of sharpened knives or cutting tools, please seek guidance from a qualified professional before use.
Section 06
International Orders
EdgeWorks Knife Studio ships internationally and welcomes customers worldwide. International customers should carefully review the following before placing an order:
- Import duties, customs fees, VAT, and local taxes are the sole financial responsibility of the buyer. These charges are assessed by your country's customs authority and are entirely outside the control of EdgeWorks Knife Studio.
- Buyer assumes all risk of loss including any confiscation made by customs authorities. It is the buyer's sole responsibility to know and comply with their local laws and import restrictions before ordering.
- International shipping timelines are estimates only. Customs processing times vary significantly by country and can add substantial time to delivery beyond our stated fulfillment window.
- Customs seizure or rejection of a shipment does not entitle the buyer to a refund of any kind. It is the buyer's sole responsibility to verify that sharpening stones are legal to import in their country prior to ordering.
- International shipping fees are non-refundable under all circumstances once a shipment has been dispatched.
- Lost international shipments — EdgeWorks Knife Studio will cooperate in good faith to assist with carrier claims. However, once a shipment has cleared US customs and entered the international postal or courier network, we cannot guarantee outcomes or assume financial liability for loss.
- Refused deliveries — packages refused at delivery by the recipient are not eligible for refund of product cost or shipping fees.
For large volume or wholesale international orders, please contact us at info@edgeworksknifestudio.com prior to ordering to discuss shipping options and applicable considerations.
